Professor Abdullahi A. Barise, Ph.D.
President & Member of Board of Trustess of City University

Professor Abdullahi A. Barise, is the founding President of City University. He earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Teaching & Learning from McGill University in Canada. He taught at McGill University and then helped establish universities in the UAE. He conducts professional development training for professors worldwide and currently serves as the full-time president of City University of Mogadishu. 

Professor Barise also serves in the National Committee reviewing the Curriculum of the Schools in Somalia for the Somali Ministry of Education of the Federal Government of Somalia.

Executive VP & Provost
Professor Abdulkareem H. Jama

Before joining City University as a Founding Executive VP, Professor Jama worked as a Network Engineer and IT Manager. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Information Technology in US Universities.

​In Somalia, he served as the Chief of Staff for the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, then as Minister of Information, Posts & Telecommunications of Somalia. Among other things, he established the Somali National Television (SNTV) in 2011.

​Professor Yasin M. Barqadle

Professor Barqadle is an Electronics Engineer by training and worked in IT for decades. He taught Information Technology courses at universities in the US and served as a senior patent examiner for the US Department of Commerce.

VP for Student Services
Mr. Abdirizak R. Wehliye

​Mr. Abdirizak Raghe Wehliye studied Chemistry in the US and has extensive work experience in related technologies. He also has experience in youth counseling, academic advising & life coaching.

VP For Admin & Finance
​Mr. Abdullahi S. Hassan

Mr. Hassan completed his undergraduate and post-graduate university studies in the US and holds an MBA with years of managerial work experience in various fields prior to  returning to Somalia and joining the City University as VP for Administration & Finance.
